Karen Yoss Baker Harper, 73, of Woodsfield, Ohio a loving wife, mother and grandmother passed away on Wednesday November 13, 2019 at her home. She was born in Woodsfield, Ohio on September 2, 1946, a daughter of the late Wilbur Yoss and Kathleen Haren Yoss.
Karen graduated from Woodsfield High School and Ohio University. She was a retired school teacher for SOLSD of 23 years. Karen was a lifelong, faithful, and active member of St. Paul’s UCC of Woodsfield. She was a very active, passionate, dedicated member of WHS Alumni Committee, MC Action Committee and Cancer Gas Cards. Karen loved to travel and spend quality time with family members and friends. She was known as “Super K” by her children and grandchildren, due to her extraordinary energy. Karen’s favorite thoughts and advice were; always find the good in someone, live for today and save a little for tomorrow, and live by the Serenity Prayer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by first husband Edwin P. Baker and grandsons Darren Stimpert and Jordan Arbogast.
She is survived by her husband Wayne Harper, children Misty (Scott) Dierkes, Nicole Baker, Troy (Jody) Baker, step children Kim (Mike) Humphrey, Greg (Leanne) Harper, grandchildren Derek London Dierkes, Cameron Jorris, Zachary Jorris, Dylan Baker, McKinzey Dierkes, Nicholas (Stephanie) Jorris, Kyle Jorris, Melissa (John) Schumacher, Melanie (Aaron) Yontz, Hannah Humphrey, Charlee Harper, Breena Harper, great grandchildren, Jack Schumacher, Karter and Korbin Yontz, and Grayson Jorris, brothers Richard (Marie) Yoss, and Gary (Cindy) Yoss, sister Sharon Yoss, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received from 2 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 5 p.m. Sunday November 17, 2019 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 303 South Main St., Woodsfield, Ohio with Rev. Franklin Haines officiating. Arrangements by Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield, Ohio.
