Paul E. Schneider, Sr.

Paul E. Schneider, Sr. age 83 of Woodsfield, Ohio died Monday June 29, 2009, at Wheeling Medical Park. He was born in Crafton, Pennsylvania May 23, 1926 a son of the late Lawrence & Hannah Gray Schneider, Sr.


He was an active member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church Woodsfield.
Paul graduated grade school from St. Joseph Military Academy in Pittsburgh, and St. Francis Preparatory School in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania.


Paul served in the U.S. Army Medical Corp as a surgical Technician 1950 - 1952. Then, working as an Oil and Gas Field worker prior to employment at Olin and then at Consolidated Aluminum Corp. It was there Paul received the nick name "Jelly Bread". Retiring at the end of 1991.


In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Joan Rita, a son Mark Thomas, and also five siblings - a sister Mary Josephine Holleran, four brothers Francis, Lawrence, Raymond and Robert Schneider.


Surviving is his wife Joan Rita Kress Schneider of 55 years - married Oct. 17, 1953. Son Paul Schneider, Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughter Catherine T. (John) Bell; 1 granddaughter Julia Christine Bell of Canal Fulton, Ohio; brother Joseph L. of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. Also many nieces and nephews.

Friends received from (2-4) & (6-8) p.m. Thursday and from (9 - 10:30) a.m. Friday at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home 100 S. Paul St. Woodsfield, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday July 3, 2009 at St. Sylvester Catholic Church Woodsfield, Ohio with Rev. Fr. David Gaydosik Officiating. Interment in the Church Cemetery. Vigil Services 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
