Thomas (Junior) Dye, age 70, of Sardis, Ohio passed away on May 10, 2018 at Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born March 16, 1948 near Brownsville, Ohio. He was the son of Thomas and Bertha (Hensel) Dye and step-son of Francis Cline.

Junior was a hard worker. He worked as a coal miner, carpet layer, and a carpenter and retired from J.A. Semon Construction, but farming was his passion. He was both an avid farmer and outdoorsman.

He spent hours in the barn feeding and caring for his cattle or tending to his equipment. He would even watch cattle and farming equipment auctions on RFDTV and was always talking to someone about their cattle. He loved to tinker with something in the garage, either trying to fix something or trying to make something work faster and better. He also enjoyed his hunting and fishing. It did not matter if it was deer in Ohio, Elk in Colorado, catfish in the river, or Walleye in Laker Erie; he loved it all.

But most of all, he enjoyed his time with family and close friends. He held the love for his family and friends every day in his heart. He was always the first to help out a neighbor or a friend, even from another town. He always had a joke and a grin, and a way with words that would make everyone feel at home and at ease.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Nancy L. Dye, and a brother Loren E. Cline.

Junior is survived  by his wife of 34 years; Debbie (Byers) Dye of Sardis, Ohio, two sisters; Linda S. McBride of Ashland, Ohio, and Teresa J. Cline of New Matamoras, Ohio, sister-in-law; Kay Cline of Mansfield, Ohio, two sons; Stacy (Kim) Dye of Hannibal, Ohio and Chris (Deanna) Simon of Sardis, Ohio, 5 grandchildren; Kelsey Duke (Scott) of Columbus, Ohio, Jeremy Dye of New Martinsville, West Virginia, D.J. Duke (Kristy) of Marion, Ohio, Justin Dye (Cheyanne) of Clarington, Ohio, and Cody Simon of Sardis, Ohio, and four great-grandchildren: Carlee Dye, Brandon Dye, and Cayden Dye of New Martinsville, West Virginia and Emmett Ann McMullen of Columbus, Ohio.

Friends will be received from 2-7 p.m. Monday, May 14th and from 12:00 until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 15th at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home with Minister Ron Weber officiating. Burial will immediately follow at St. Paul Trail Run in Sardis, Ohio.

Dear Debbie and family,
We were truly saddened by the death of Junior. He will always be remembered by us as a faithful, loving friend. Nan's first encounter with anyone from Sardis was Junior. He was the first to spot and greet her when we stopped in Fly on our way to take up residence in the Parsonage. He was one of the first faithful members of the men's group we started at the church. God bless and keep you and the family. Fondly, Chuck and Nan

Junior was a a very loving, caring son, brother to Uncle Merle Cline and Family. I very much appreciated the love and support he has given to Theresa, I know it has been very comforting for her. We plan to be down in Monroe County this weekend and will be stopping to visit with Theresa. We send our love to you all.

Junior made Ed and I feel so welcome the first day we entered into the church and taking us to lunch after the service. He just had a way to make you feel he always knew you. We will miss you Junior as we do all of Trail Run Church!

My symphony to the Dye family. Debbie, I am sorry for your loss. Junior and I had been friends since our elementary school days at Brownsville Elementary school. I could always expect Junior's smile and friendly greetings. I (we) will miss him but we take solace in that he is hurting no more and is in the presence of our Lord. I pray peace may come to you in this difficult time. Rich
