Byron Seagrave Jr. Obituary

Byron Seagrave age 73 of New Matamoras, Ohio Passed away peacefully September 16, 2025 at The Washington County home in Marietta, Ohio under the care of Shriver's hospice.

He was born August 16, 1952 in Elgin, Illinois a first-born son of the late Byron H. Sr. & Charlene (Heaver) Seagrave in Elgin, IL. He married the love of his life his loving wife Violet (Fay), on January 6, 1984 who preceded him in death on October 20, 2023. Byron lived in Palatine & New Lenox, Illinois for many years before moving with family to Rock Cave, WV.  He and Fay moved to Florida for a few years and back to WV and lived in Ohio for many years.

He was also preceded in death by his fur babies (Charlie, Angel, & Bootsie), his siblings: Mary Jean (Dave) Jans, Sylvia (Bill) Persico, brother Kevin, Niece Christina Carr, Grandparents, Aunt, Uncles, cousins, friends.

He is survived by his siblings: Donna (John) Lee, Darlene (Ray) Fagan) Debbie (late Steve Morris) Barnhart, Kenny (Linda) Seagrave, Sherry (Donnie) Snyder, Sharon (Jeff Gorrell) Brightwell Ronald (Rhonda) Seagrave, & Elizabeth (Nolan Walker) Roll, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunt, uncle, cousins and friends.

Byron was a truck driver which was his passion to follow in his dad's footsteps. He loved talking with truckers on Facebook and or in person. He always had a toothpick in his mouth just like his dad and a hat on his head most of the time even while Facetiming. He also was a grave digger which eventually caused back issues.   He was a wonderful caregiver for many years to his wife Fay after she suffered several strokes. He was a very humble, hardworking man (as said by one of his recent doctors). Не loved his family, God, (and was an avid bible reader and attended Bible studies on a regular basis), drinking coffee, having pockets full of pens and pencils. His greatest passion was loving animals of many kinds. He often took in strays.  He never ended a phone call saying goodbye.  It was always love you, later!

The family would like to thank sister Debbie for being his compassionate, loving caregiver, The Washington Home and the entire staff, especially; Hollie Orders and Shriver's hospice (nurse Karlie and team), Drs. Clare Petty, Robert McKinley, Douglas Keyser, Dr. Kelli Cawley, Social worker Jane Skeen for their compassion and loving care they provided Byron in his last few months. His family will be forever grateful. Rest in peace dear brother.

There will be no service per Byron's wishes. Memorials can be made to Washington Home, Shriver's hospice or any animal rescue in your area.
