Carl Eugene Ludolph Jr. Obituary

Carl Eugene Ludolph Jr., 73 of New Martinsville, West Virginia passed away peacefully with his family Friday, December 11, 2020 at Wheeling Hospital.  He was born in Sistersville West Virginia September 23, 1947 a son of the late Carl & Wilma Henthorn Ludolph. 

He graduated from River High School in 1965, was a member of the Unity Baptist Church, USAA, AARP, American Legion of New Martinsville, American Legion of Duffy, Ohio and the Moose Lodge of New Martinsville. 

He was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, and when he returned home, he worked in Wadsworth Ohio as a shop blaster.  He also worked at Babcock & Wilcox in Barberton, Ohio as a swing grinder before finally returning to the Ohio Valley and working at Ormet (Conalco) in Maintenance where he later drove a forklift and truck in another department.  His best job was as an aluminum stretch wrap operator.  He retired in 2005 with 30 years of working.

Gene enjoyed watching sports including the Steelers, Browns, Ohio State, WVU and the Pirates.  He loved River High School sports especially football.  He liked car shows and playing bingo.  His greatest pleasures in his early years were of hunting and in his last years his grandson Noah.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Bonnie Frieden Ludoph, daughter Gina Ludolph, brothers-in-law Don Safreed and Ron Miller, sisters-in-law Patty Ludolph, Joyce Ludolph, Mary Lou Frieden, and Shirley Safreed.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Sullivan Ludolph of New Martinsville, daughter and son-in-law Crystal and Michael Christman, grandson Noah Christman, brothers Robert Ludolph and Randy Ludolph, sisters Pam (Paul) Sparkman and Joyce Miller, sisters-in-law Brenda (Bud) Rosenlieb, and Linda (Chuck) Safreed, brothers-in-law Gale (Darlena) Frieden, Willard Sullivan Jr., and Benny (Kriss) Sullivan, plus numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends received from 12 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Monday December 14, 2020 at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, 100 S. Paul St. Woodsfield, Ohio.  Graveside Service to follow at 2 p.m.  at Unity Baptist Church Cemetery near Antioch, Ohio with Claye Folger officiating.  Military graveside services conducted by American Legion of Duffy Ohio.
