Catherine "Grannie" Mitchell

Catherine “Grannie” Mitchell, 84 of Woodsfield, OH passed away Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025 peacefully at her home. Grannie was born October 4, 1940, in Akron, OH, the daughter of Joseph and Maude (Milton) McAlarney.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband David W. Mitchell, brothers Eddie, John (Barbara) and Glenn McAlarney, sisters Betty (Woodrow) Stemple and Annie (Milan) Radish and son-in-law John Speelman.

 Surviving are her two children, Michael Mitchell, of Akron, OH and Michelle Speelman of Woodsfield, OH; grandchildren David (Katie), Kathleen and John-Michael (Erica) Speelman; great grandchildren Jacob, Kylie, Quinn and Jamison Speelman; many nephews, nieces and friends who loved her and will miss her every day.

At Grannie’s request, no services will be held and cremation will be observed. In her memory, memorial contributions can be made to St. Sylvester’s Catholic School, 119 Wayne Street, Woodsfield, OH 43793. Condolences and memory expressions bauerturner.com
