Davey Lee Turner

Davey Lee Turner, 84 of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away peacefully Monday March 25, 2019 at the Monroe County Care Center.  He was born in Woodsfield, Ohio October 17, 1934, the son of the late Paul R. Turner and Georgia G. Willison Turner.

He graduated from Woodsfield High School in 1952, then attended Ohio University Athens, completing his education at Cincinnati School of Mortuary Science in 1956.  He was drafted into the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959, serving in the Army Reserves as well.  Davey began working at Bauer-Turner at a young age and spent 60 years in the furniture business, funeral home and family’s ambulance service which was in operation until 1975.

Davey was a member of Woodsfield Presbyterian Church.  He was an active member of Kiwanis for 40 years, former director on the board of Citizens National Bank, board member of the Monroe County Airport Authority, and volunteer with the Woodsfield Volunteer Fire Department.

In his mid-forties, Davey reached a long time goal of earning his private pilot’s license.  His love of flying provided hours of enjoyment and relaxation.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra Jackson Turner, whom he married on July 30, 1961; and brother, Ronald Paul Turner.

He is survived by two daughters: Ashley (Mick) Schumacher of Woodsfield and Allison (John) Dietz of Weirton, WV; one granddaughter, Ella Jewel Dietz; three nephews, Jeffrey Turner, Brian Turner, and Shane Jackson; two nieces, Twila Jackson and April Jackson.

Friends received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday March 28, at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home 100 S. Paul St. Woodsfield, Ohio where Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday March 29, 2019 with Reverand Susan Lehosky officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery Woodsfield.
