Dora Mae Decker Obituary

Dora “Mae” Decker, 85 of Jerusalem, Ohio passed away on May 5, 2020 at Wheeling Medical Park Hospital in Wheeling, WV. She was born on July 5, 1934 in Beallsville to the late Clarence “Shad” Hudson and Hazel (Whipple) Hudson.

Mae has worked many years in the Beallsville community before she retired. She worked as a nursing aide for a very long time caring for others at the Beallsville Care Facility until it closed. She also had a hand in cooking for children at a local grade school and other businesses as well.

Her husband Clyde played local music in different places. They frequently played at the Beallsville American Legion, where Mae spent a lot of time helping out as a member of the ladies auxiliary. She was the type of person that loved everyone and enjoyed the company of others. If you needed help with something, she wouldn’t hesitate.

Along with being a loving mother, grandmother & great-grandmother, which she enjoyed every minute of the time spent with her family. She also enjoyed going to outings and being with her church family. Mae was a member of the Praise Pentecostal Fellowship Church in Woodsfield. She very seldom missed a service for many years, until her declining health made it difficult for her to go.

Along with her parents she is proceeded in death by her husband Clyde Decker of Jerusalem, one son Allen Hess of Beallsville, her only brother Clyde Hudson of Beallsville, Brothers-in-law Robert “Bob” Howell of Beallsville and Robert “Bob” Glendening of Sistersville, WV and a dear nephew Randy Vanness of New Martinsville, WV.

Surviving are her son Delbert Hess of Miltonsburg, her two sisters, Alice Howell of Beallsville and Wilma Glendening of Sistersville, WV, two daughters-in-law Donna Hess of Uhrichsville and Bonnie Hess of Woodsfield, two granddaughters, Brian (Marsha) Dunn of Jerusalem and Dennis (Deanna) Griffith of Uhrichsville, six great-grandchildren Brian Dunn, Jr., Anthony Dunn, Angel Dunn of Jerusalem, Ivayne Griffith, Wrex Griffith and baby Griffith (expected to arrive in November) of Uhrichsville. Several nieces & nephews. A very dear friend Ruth Thornberry of Beallsville. Also her beloved church family.

There will be no visitation. Inurnment at the convenience of the family at the Beallsville Cemetery Beallsville, Ohio. Arrangement by Bauer~Turner Funeral Home Woodsfield, Ohio.
