Gregory L. Woods

Gregory L. Woods, 62, passed away Friday, October 27th, 2023, at the Kobacker House, Hospice in Columbus Ohio. He was born December 7, 1960, at White Cross Hospital in the Short North, the son of Frank and Billie (Blevins) Woods.

Greg graduated from Columbus South High School, Franklin University (BS), and Otterbein University (MS). Greg was a servant to all from the very beginning of his life when he worked in the family store, worked in the restaurant business, catering, to working at Farmers Insurance and then celebrating 25 years of service at Nationwide Insurance.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by Half Brother Ted (Evelyn) Woods, Half Sister Mary Jones, Brother Jeff (Karla) Woods and Father-in-law Paul Ring.

Surviving in addition to his husband of 27 years, Matthew Ring, are his son Gregory (Kristen) Woods and their children, Gregory, Brooklyn, Carly and Lexi all of Blacklick and his son Michael Woods and his children, Michael, Austin, Madison, Mason and Gauge of Columbus.  Greg was such a proud Grandpa and always took the opportunity to share stories of just how great his grandchildren were!

Greg is also survived by his most loving Sister, Sharon Hackenberg of Canal Winchester, Mother-in-law Helen Marie Ring of Westerville, Sister-in-law Paula Ring of Woodsfield, Brother-in-law Marc (Helen Kay) Ring of Woodsfield and Andrew (Lori) Ring of Beverly. Many nieces and nephews.

Greg was loved by all who knew him. Each person whom he friended has a story to share which will always keep his light shining.

In honor of Greg a Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 3rd at 4:00 p.m. at King Avenue United Methodist Church. (299 King Ave. Columbus, Ohio)

Those who wish to remember Greg in a special way may make gifts in his memory to King Avenue United Methodist Church.

The family wishes to thank the Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital, Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation Hospital in Westerville and to the Kobacker House, all of which cared for Greg with much love and honor.
