Heber E. Dougherty Sr., 83 of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Sunday June 16, 2024 at Barnesville Hospital Barnesville, Ohio. He was born January 5, 1941 at Graysville, Ohio a son of the late Ralph & Edna Nalley Dougherty.
He was a coal miner and had worked for Y&O and also strip mining at R&F and M&F, and had also worked at Smithbergers Saw Mill, and Asplundh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Heber “Buck” E. Dougherty Jr., an infant son Buddy Joe, grandson Bobby Rothenbuhler, and brothers and sisters; Arthur, Paul, Doris, Lloyd, Ed, Reba, Chub, Bonnie, and Donna.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years; Vivian Palmer Dougherty of Woodsfield, son Ralph (Donna) Dougherty of Malaga, daughters Darlene (Ron Knowlton) Winland, of Woodsfield, Jeanette (Jeff) Gumm of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Cindy (Mark Griffith) Ridgeway of Woodfield, daughter-in-law Angie Dougherty, brothers Ronnie, Keith, Gary, and Jim and sister Mary Scott, grandchildren, Jack, Chasity, Brandi, Peanut, Jennifer, Randy, Randa, Derrek, Kassey, Haley, Asher, Erica, and Davee, 27 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. Thursday June 20, 2024 at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home 100 S. Paul St. Woodsfield, Ohio. Interment at the convenience of the family.
