Helen Irene Longwell, 83, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Saturday September 20, 2025 at WVU Wheeling Hospital Wheeling, West Virginia. She was born in Middleport, Ohio November 27, 1941 a daughter of the late Tony Vargo and Cinderella Dunlap Vargo.
She had worked at various local restaurants over the years and dearly loved to play bingo and spending time with her family. She was also a longtime member of the Woodsfield VFW and Eagles.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack R. Longwell Sr., sons Jack R. Longwell Jr. and Roy E. Longwell, an infant granddaughter Linda Marie, brothers, Richard Vargo, Ralph Whittington, and Robert “Butch” Whittington, and sisters, Madalyn Haslam, Mary Miller, Emogene Baker, and Gladys Baker.
She is survived by her children Bertha (Tony) Hurte, Patty (Clifford) Howell, and Robert “Bobby” Longwell, grandchildren, Jack Longwell “Jr.”, Alicia (Bob) Hinson, Ryan (Lynn) Howell, Aaron (Tasha) Headley, Andrew Longwell, Charlie Longwell, Brandyce Norman, Tessya (Victor) Mason, Jessica Whitmire, Roy (April) Longwell Jr., Troy (Bree) Longwell, DeLayne (Randy) Stanford, and George (Ashley) Sniadoski, daughters- in-law, Deborah Longwell , Cindy Longwell, and Gaye Longwell, brother-in-law Junior Lee Russell, and sister-in-law Violet Whittington, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday September 24, at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home Woodsfield, Ohio where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday September 25, 2025 with Jarod Kiggans officiating. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery Woodsfield.
