Hester Barker

Hester G. Miller Piatt Barker, 93 of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Monday August 23, 2021 at Summit Acres Nursing Home Caldwell, Ohio. She was born at Moss Run, Washington County Ohio October 11, 1927 a daughter of the late Clarence & Myrtle Holiday Miller.

Hester was a member of the Church of Christ and was baptized April 20, 2021, she loved having dinners for family and friends, yard sales, and bingo. She enjoyed having her grandkids around who she called her Kiddos.  She loved the holidays (especially Christmas), country music, getting her hair done, and painting her finger nails.  

Preceded in death by her husband’s Harry K. Barker – 1990 and Archie Piatt Jan. 12, 2008, son Charles Robert “Bob” Piatt, 4 infant siblings, stepson Kenneth Barker, stepdaughter Debbie Wilson, granddaughter Jodie Smith.

She is survived by her daughters Shirley (John) Smith of Sardis, Ohio, Myrtle (Ronnie) Smith of Clarington, Ohio, and Belva (Kenney) Blackstone of Lewisville, Ohio stepdaughters Shirley Beahn, Norma Reis, and Dannetta Flores, step son Mike (Judy) Barker,  grandchildren RJ (Shelley) Smith, Johnny (Chris) Smith, Monica (Sonny) Blair, Melissa Piatt, Michael Piatt, Joshua (Lesley) Smith, Amy (Brandon) Mullenix, Megan (Michael) Isaly, Ryan (Dana) Blackstone, Derek (Shianne) Blackstone, and Mikayla Blackstone, and several great and great-great grandchildren.     

Friends received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday August 25 at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home Woodsfield, Ohio where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday August 26, 2021 with Jimmy Moore officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Graysville, Ohio.

Memorial contributions maybe made to Hospice at Summit Acres and or the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
