Homer Lee Vaness 86, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Saturday March 14, 2026 at Arbors of Woodsfield. He was born in Cameron, Ohio September 21, 1939 a son of the late Okey and Marie Palmer Vaness.
He was the best Dad and husband anyone could have. He was a member of the Cameron Church of Christ. He was a lifetime resident of Adams Township and was township trustee for many years. He had worked at the Woodsfield Light and power plant, Haren & Sons Lumber, Ormet Corporation and Fuqua Mobile Homes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Raymond, and two infant sisters, mother and father-in-law, Paul and Nellie Hoke, brothers-in-law, Larry Griffin, Larry Hoke, Dale Hoke, Billy Hoke and Mike Hoke, and sister-in-law Sylvia Hoke.
He is survived by his wife Norma Hoke Vaness of Woodsfield, his daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Gary McClellan of Woodsfield, brothers-in-law, Tom Hoke and fiancée Charlotte, Roger (Linda) Hoke, Mark (Anita) Hoke, Danny (Doris) Hoke, and Frank Hoke, sisters-in-law, Patty Hoke, Nancy Hoke, Rose Griffin, Dolly (Rob Cottrell) Mobley and Kathy Brown.
Friends will be received from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday March 18, and from 12p.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Thursday March 19, 2026 at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home 100 S. Paul St. Woodsfield, Ohio with Dave Beaver officiating. Burial will follow in the Cameron Cemetery Cameron, Ohio.
