Jane Williams Obituary

Jane Ann (Roth) Williams, 63, of Woodsfield OH, passed away on May 13, 2021. 

Jane was born on July 15, 1957 in Wheeling WV to Kenneth and Wanda Roth. 

She attended Laings Elementary School and graduated from Woodsfield High School in 1975.  She continued on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science, specializing in pulp and paper, from Miami University in Oxford OH, in 1980. 

Jane accepted a job at Champion Paper at the Hamilton Mill in Hamilton OH.  There she met Robert Williams and they were wed in Woodsfield OH in 1983 at Fletcher’s Chapel.

After working at Champion, Jane enjoyed selling cosmetics through Beauty for All Seasons. 

In 1988, Jane and Robert bought a house and moved to Gig Harbor WA and in 1991 they welcomed a daughter, Ariana.

While in Washington, Jane was a member of the Junior League of Tacoma and was an active member of the board of her daughter’s school, Harbor Montessori.  She also showed off her fashion sense by selling clothes made by Doncaster.

Jane then went on to earn a certificate in Museum Studies from the University of Washington.  She worked at the Harbor History Museum in Gig Harbor WA.  She then moved on to the Kitsap Historical Society and Museum in Bremerton WA.

Jane spent a year working for the State of South Dakota canvassing all of the local museums in the state.

In 2009, Jane and Robert moved back to Woodsfield OH to fulfill Jane’s dream of living in a historical log cabin overlooking her family’s farm.

Once Jane returned to Woodsfield she began selling CAbi clothing at local homes and volunteered at the Ohio Valley River Museum in Clarington OH.  She joined the Wheeling Newcomers Club and volunteered at the Junior League of Wheeling.

Jane and Robert joined the Heritage Dance Association and enjoyed learning cultural dances, which Jane paired with sewing historically accurate costumes. 

In 2018, Jane began pursuing teaching and taught at Swill Hills Career Center.  She later received a certification from the Ohio Assessment of Educators in Mathematics and taught math at Belpre High School in Belpre OH. 

Jane was a wonderful, loving wife and mother who greatly enjoyed spending time with her family.  Her hobbies included sewing, embroidery, cooking, baking, gardening, canning, family genealogy and working on her log cabin.  Jane had a love for travel and had visited New Orleans, Germany, Scotland, Ireland, England, California, and Washington among others in recent years.

Jane was preceded in death by her mother, Wanda (Harmon) Roth; infant brother, Charles Christian Roth; mother-in-law, Carolyn (Fogg) Williams; father-in-law, George Williams; brother-in-law, Matthew Singleton; paternal grandparents, Guy and Arlie (Drum) Roth; maternal grandparents, Donald and Mary Hilda (Cline) Harmon.

Jane is survived by her husband Robert Williams of Woodsfield OH; daughter, Ariana (Joshua) Heath of Seattle WA; father, Kenneth Roth of Woodsfield OH; sister, Sherri Singleton of Woodsfield OH; nephew, John Schumacher of Missoula MT; nephew, Lance Schumacher of Missoula MT; sister-in-law, Cathy Elford of Tacoma WA; niece, Stephanie Hubley (Tyler) of Tacoma WA; nephew Michael Elford (Katlin) of Tacoma WA; brother-in-law George Williams (Janet) of Charlottesville VA; niece Lisa McNair (Patrick) of Los Angeles CA; nephew Brian Williams (Emma) of Charlottesville VA; nephew Matthew Williams (Kiki) of Charlottesville VA.

Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday May 19, 2021 at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home 100 S. Paul St. Woodsfield, Ohio.  Interment at the convenience of the family.
