Janet Podeszwa Obituary

Janet Marie Podeszwa, 76 of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Wednesday March 11, 2020 at Genesis New Martinsville Center New Martinsville, West Virginia.  Her journey began on May 11, 1943 in Fly, Ohio a daughter of the late Paul and Nellie Moyer Blake.

Janet grew up with several siblings. They lived in Fly, Ohio and later moved to Woodsfield where she met Louis Sutherland whom she was married to for many years.  They had three children they dearly loved. 

She loved being outdoors working in her yard and tending to her beautiful flowers.  She loved to play bingo and loved winning, which she did many times.  She devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to family members. Janet attended the St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Woodsfield.

She retired from Conalco in Hannibal, Ohio and had worked for many years at LGAM in Woodsfield.  

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Podeszwa, two sons Louis Sutherland Jr., and David Sutherland, siblings Pauline Bush, Sue Knowlton, and Dorothy Robinson. 

She is survived by her daughter Tina (Michael) Hogue, her grandchildren Justin Hogue and his son Hank, Kole (Chelsea) Hogue and their son Lane, and Jessica Wheeler daughter of the late David Sutherland, sisblings; Paul (Ruth) Blake Jr. of Woodsfield, Betty (Larry) Milhoan of Malaga, John Blake of Akron, and Randy Blake of Miltonsburg, several great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Private services for family will be held 5 p.m. Monday March 16 at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home Woodsfield, Ohio with Rev. Fr. David Gaydosik officiating.  Inurnment will be in St. Sylvester Catholic Church Cemetery Woodsfield, Ohio
