JoAnn Harmon, 88 of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Tuesday September 14, 2021 at her home. She was born October 11, 1932 in Tellico Plains, Tennessee a daughter of the late Augustus & Loche Gamble Hunt.
She was a graduate of the East Tennessee Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Knoxville Tennessee. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Woodsfield. JoAnn was employed by Barnesville Hospital for 49 years where she was a mentor, and coach. She showed her dedication, knowledge and compassion through her passion for nursing and had received the Care Giver of the year award twice, and the monthly care giver award three times. She held multiple positions including staff nurse, emergency dept. nurse, critical care nurse and hospital supervisor. Her famous phrase was “OH MY” when things got tough but always stayed in a calm manner. JoAnn also enjoyed gardening, sewing, crochet and was a great cook.
Preceded in death by her husband Donald B. Harmon Dec. 2018 and daughter Vicki Harmon Oct. 2019.
She is survived by her son Gus (Denise) Harmon of Tyler, Texas, daughter Ann (Buck) Chewning of Woodsfield, brother Larry (Christine) Hunt of Tellico Plains, Tennessee, and sisters Margaret (Grayson) Hicks of Sweetwater, Tennessee, and Jean Hunt Carter of Tellico Plains, grandchildren Leslie Chewning, Tyler (Brittany) Harmon, and Sarah (Scott Birch) Harmon.
Visitation from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday September 18, at the First Baptist Church of Woodsfield with Pastor Michael Hail officiating. Arrangements by Bauer-Turner Funeral Home Woodsfield.
