Marion Poppy Gates

Marion C. Poppy Gates 89, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Monday June 13, 2022 at his home.  He was born in Monroe County Ohio October 11, 1932 a son of the late Chattum Douglas & Ora Miller Gates.

He was a member of Local 18 Operating Engineers as a heavy Equipment operator, and a pipe liner.  He was a very proud US Army Veteran, and enjoyed talking politics.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Paul Gates.

He is survived by his wife Martha L. Davis Gates of Woodsfield, sons; John (Janet) Davis of Woodsfield, and David (Laurie - Laura) Conner of Lewisville, Ohio, daughters; Debbie (Chris) Gates-Plotner and Michele (Andy) Gates-Storts both of Woodfield, bonus daughter; Sammie (Greg) Yamagata of Las Vegas, Nevada,  two sisters; Dolly Groves of Lewisville, Ohio, and Carolyn Kenney of Massillon, Ohio, grandchildren; Joshua Labuda, Raven (Drew) Green, Madison (Kory) Hill, Leanna Davis, Aubrey Davis, Kylie-Callie Davis, Mike Conner, Hunter (Paige) Conner, Elizabeth Stanley, and Tyler Storts, 3 great grandchildren; Isabella, Mason, and Kaynon, one great granddaughter due in October Mackinley Hill, several nieces and nephews, and many special neighbors and friends.

Friends received from 4-8 p.m. Saturday June 18, 2022 at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home 100 S. Paul St. Woodsfield, Ohio where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday June 19, 2022 with Rev. David Cottrell officiating.  Military services will also be held Sunday.  Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery Woodsfield.
