Mary Frances Cooper, 83 of Valley Grove, WV, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 22, 2020 while in Marietta Memorial Hospital hospice care.
Born on December 11, 1936 in Valley Grove, WV, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Nellie Mae Roberts. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth L Cooper, her sister, Barbara Welker and husband Wilson Welker.
Mrs. Cooper was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a 1954 graduate of Triadelphia High School and called Valley Grove Assembly of God Church in Valley Grove, WV and Woodsfield Christian Church in Woodsfield, OH home during her time with us. Mary was a long- term caregiver for many years. She enjoyed reading newspapers to keep up with current events and never missed a chance to play bingo.
Mary also blessed the communities of Valley Grove, WV and Woodfield, OH in her lifetime. Lifetime friends from Valley Grove Doris Smith and Betty Jane Myers spent hours at a time on the phone talking about family and faith. Upon moving to Woodsfield, OH in 2008, she was adopted into the community and became friends with Vernon & Cora Blackstone, Mary Basset, Roy & Judy Pittman, Howard & late wife Norma Williams and Richard and Betty Hopton.
Surviving are two sons Day (Regina) of Valley Grove, WV; Dr. Kenneth (Karena) Cooper, Jr. of Woodsfield, OH; one daughter Connie (Mark) Haggerty of Valley Grove, WV; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Mary & Garrett Cooper Haggerty, and Alex Walter Cooper, one sister, Marlene (James) Everson of St. Clairsville, OH/Naples, FL. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
A funeral service and interment were conducted at the West Alexander, PA Cemetery with immediate family attending and Rev. Anthony Mc Swords officiating.
