Merle Morris

Merle D. Morris, 80 of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Sunday morning December 1, 2019 at his home.  He was born February 6, 1939 in Woodsfield a son of the late Robert and Daisy Barnes Morris.

Merle was of Christian faith.  He was owner of Morris Market for 20 years, a member of the Masonic Lodge #189 for over forty years, a member of the Monroe County Farmers and Sportsmen’s Association, and a former member of the Board of Public Affairs.  He was an avid bowler, golfer and card player.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law Larry and Shirley Morris and a sister and brother-in-law Janet Sue and Chuck Cheney, and a brother-in-law Chester Ault.

Merle is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Betty Hunnell Morris, two daughters Kim (Greg) Jorris of Woodsfield and Michele (Rob) Ballinger of Canal Winchester, Ohio, two sisters Donna Ault of Woodsfield, and Linda (Bob) Johnson of Cambridge, Ohio, 4 grandchildren Krista (Adam) Jones of Woodsfield, Sean (Courtney) Jorris of Lorain, Ohio, Katie and Meghan Ballinger of Canal Winchester, Ohio, 3 great-grandchildren Walker, Hudson, and Brooklyn, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends and family will be received from 2 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 6 p.m. Wednesday December 4, 2019 at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, Woodsfield, Ohio with Keith Jones officiating. Masonic Lodge services will be held 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. www.bauerturner.com
