Nile C. Kamp, 93, of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away Monday April 26, 2021 at Barnesville Hospital. He was born in Middlebranch, Ohio February 7, 1928 a son of the late Carl and Ruby Shaffer Kamp.
He served in the US Army of occupation forces in Japan and was attached to General Douglas McArthur headquarters in Tokyo. A graduate of Muskingum College with a Degree in Bachelor of Arts. He was a Travelers Insurance Agent for 30 years and retired from Ormet Corp after 33 years. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ Woodsfield, member of VFW Post 5303 and a member of various organizations over the years. He also was a Director of the Woodsfield Savings Bank for 52 years and served as Chairman for 34 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Jane Feldner Kamp and his second wife Darlene Gray Kamp, daughter Dorothy Geyer, and brothers David M. Kamp and Ned A. Kamp.
He is survived by two daughters, Julie Kamp of Woodsfield, and Caroline (Byrd) Howard of Somerset, Ohio, son-in-law Andy Geyer of Norwich, Ohio, brother John P. (Elizabeth) Kamp of New Holland, Pennsylvania, two grandchildren Janie E. Geyer and Ben (Megan) Geyer, three great grandchildren Rex, Dori and Vinny Geyer, plus Nile and Darlene’s grandchildren Luke, Isaac, Abby, Katie, Robbie, and Laura Jo.
Private visitation and service will be held Friday April 30, 2021 at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home Woodsfield, Ohio with Rev. Susan Lehosky officiating. Burial to follow in Oaklawn Cemetery Woodsfield.
