Ray Hubbard Obituary

Ray Thomas Hubbard, 93 of Woodsfield, formerly of New Matamoras, Ohio passed away Monday July 6, 2026 at Barnesville Hospital.  He was born in Paden City, West Virginia February 28, 1933 a son of the late Wilbur Ray and Hattie Mae Schoonover Hubbard.

Ray was a Baptist by faith. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired from Ormet Corporation as an electrician. He also owned and operated Hubbard Vault Works and served as a Grandview Township Trustee.

Ray's greatest joy was his family. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Many cherished memories were made at the family's cabin at Piedmont Lake. They also enjoyed years of camping and togetherness as members of the Monroe Miserable Misfits Camping Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Laura Ruth Hubbard.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years Delores Jean Bradfield Hubbard of Woodsfield, son David (Donna) Hubbard of Woodsfield, daughters Glenda (Randy) Rubel of Lewisville, and Audrey (Bill) Clark of Woodsfield, sister Jeanie Thomas of California,  grandchildren; Dillon (Molly) Hubbard, Sheri (Jordan) Jones, Diana (Collin) Barnes, Melissa Rubel, and Kaitlin Kinney, great grandchildren; Evie, Ladd, Natalie, Blake, Gianna, Vivian, Emma, Joelle, Brooks, Brody, Aliza, and Malone.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Donna and Mary Lou and the staff at DaVita Dialysis of Vienna, and to Jennifer Kinney and Rosalee Swallow for all their kindness.

Friends will be received from 4 – 8 p.m. Thursday July 9 at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home Woodsfield, Ohio where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday July 10, 2026 with Terry Pringle officiating. Burial will follow in the New Matamoras Cemetery New Matamoras, Ohio.  Full military honors will be held at the funeral home prior to service. Masonic Lodge service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, family request memorial contributions be made to the Monroe County Veterans in Distress, PO Box 87, Woodsfield, Ohio 43793.
