Richard J. Cogar, 70, of Woodsfield, Ohio a loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, Monday November 18, 2019. He was born in Akron, Ohio August 29, 1949 a son of the late Richard and Dorothy Cogar.
He was a retired farmer, and over-the-road truck driver. For over 35 years, as an owner/operator, he proudly moved freight all over the United States. He was a passionate protector of all animals having adopted horses, goats, dogs, and cats. He and his family established the Monroe County Humane Society (now Crossed Paws Animal Shelter) near his home.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Alicia Lunder Cogar, daughter Jaya (Marvin) Potts, and granddaughters Ayden and Kennady Russell, all of Woodsfield.
The family has requested no services.
