Shayne Wohnhas, 60 of Woodsfield, Ohio passed away July 12, 2021 at the OSU Medical Center Columbus, Ohio. He was born in New Martinsville, West Virginia December 12, 1960 a son of Max E. Wohnhas of Woodsfield and the late Carolyn Bates Wohnhas.
Shayne attended Alderson Broaddus University where he played baseball as a pitcher and first baseman. Before moving back to Monroe County, he lived in Germantown, Maryland for many years where he loved spending time hiking and playing sports, raising his family and coaching his oldest son’s baseball and basketball teams. Shayne was a contractor by trade. He led a full life in serving the Lord. He was a member of Shekinah Christian Fellowship of Barnesville. Shayne led the men’s prayer breakfast and bible study twice a month. He was a partner with the Eleventh Hour Ministry and supporter of the Christian Jewish Fellowship. He was involved in the Kairos Prison Ministry. Shayne was loved by all for his caring heart, sense of humor especially for the “The Daily Kitty” and his obsession with bacon.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife Monie Wohnhas – June 7, 2021.
He is survived by his father Max E. Wohnhas of Woodsfield, two sons Nick (Maddi) Wohnhas of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Dylan Wohnhas of Germantown, Maryland, brother Shannon (Stella) Wohnhas of Springfield, Ohio, sister Gayanna Wohnhas of Woodsfield, and granddaughter Jordyn Wohnhas.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday July 17, 2021 at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home 100 S. Paul St. Woodsfield, Ohio with Pastors Roy & Martha Hershberger officiating. Burial will follow in the West Union Cemetery near Sardis, Ohio.
