Verla Ruth Lude

Verla R. Lude, 101, of Woodsfield (formerly of Clarington) passed away Friday, January 22, 2021 with family by her side at Westwood Place, Woodsfield, Ohio.

She was born on Opossum Creek near Clarington, OH on January 21, 1920 a daughter of the late Lawrence and Gertrude Bandi Ollom.

Verla was a homemaker, wife, sister and aunt.  She was a member of Chapel Hill Church and held various offices in the church in her younger years; she also was a member of the former Rebekah Lodge in Clarington.  Most of all, she enjoyed family and loved visits from friends and reminiscing about the good old days.

The high light of her last years was her 100th birthday celebration last year with a large turnout of family and friends who made it such a blessing to her as well as the staff at Westwood Place.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Arthur Lude whom she married April 7, 1939, two sisters, Wanda Clegg Standifer and Inez McClellan.

Surviving are her two nephews, Gary (Cindy) McClellan and Jerry McClellan; one niece Karen (Kenny) McKelvey all of Woodsfield; one great-niece Brenda (Jim) Roberts; one great-nephew, Michael McKelvey; two great-great nephews, Justin (Kim) Roberts and Gavin McKelvey, one great-great niece Chelsie (Tucker) Brown, great-great-great nephew Jase Roberts and several nieces and nephews.  Five generations existed since May 2020 until present.

Friends received from 6- 8 pm. Monday and from 12 noon until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Tuesday January 26, 2021 at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home Woodsfield, Ohio with Rev. Darla Schnegg and Rev. Dave Beaver officiating.  Burial will follow in the Clarington Cemetery Clarington, Ohio.
